Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 6, 2026

PicPocket is built from the ground up with a privacy-first mindset. We do not track your location, rent your data, or profile your personal habits for advertisers.

Information We Collect

Here is all the personal information we store that is required for the app to function:

  • First & last name
  • Email address (if it was provided)
  • Phone number
  • A hashed version of your password
  • Your Apple or Google ID (if using mobile, to send you notifications)
  • The names of your placeholders
  • Your contacts (friends) on the platform
  • Phone numbers that are linked to a placeholder(s)

User uploads are stored on our servers, as well as post information, comments and voice notes.

Shared Albums & Media

When you upload photos to a shared album, that media is strictly accessible only to you and the explicitly designated accounts or phone numbers you select to share it with.

Data Retention

If you choose to delete a photo, video, or entire album from PicPocket, if it is shared with other users, it is only deleted for you. If it is not shared, or all other album members are placeholders created by you, the photo/video/album is permanently deleted from our servers after 30 days.

Account Deletion

If you choose to delete your account from PicPocket, all of your data, including your photos and videos that are unshared, are deleted permanently after 30 days. Comments, voice notes, and photos/videos that are shared with other users are not deleted, unless all other users whom the content was shared with have also deleted that content, or their accounts, in which case the content will be deleted after 30 days.

Contacts

We collect only the phone numbers that you explicitly provide to ’link’ to placeholders. We store these to match against new users to determine if they are linked to an existing placeholder(s).

Location Data

Photos that you take with the in-app camera may request location services to add location metadata to the photo.

Information Sharing

We do not share any of your personal information with third parties.

AI Training

We strictly do not use any of your information or uploaded content for any form of AI training.

Photo Scanning

We scan photos using a perceptual hashing algorithm, which allows us to detect duplicates within the same album. We also use a third-party CSAM scanning service via our CDN, Cloudflare, to detect any content that may be considered CSAM. This only occurs at the time of content delivery.

Payment Processing

We do not process any payment information. All payments made on our website are processed by our payment processor, Polar. All payments made in the app are processed by Apple or Google.
